Davos and sports

The history of Davos is inextricably linked with the history of winter sports. At the end of the 19th century, sledge and bobsleigh races were being held on Schatzalp. Maybe you have already sat on an original Davos sledge crafted from ash wood?

The women’s figure skating world championships also took place in 1906. But the Alpine town is best known for ice-hockey and the home club HC Davos. Every year between Christmas and New Year, the club hosts the Spengler Cup international ice-hockey tournament. During this week, everything revolves around the ice-hockey puck, with fans from all over Switzerland flocking to the town to cheer on their idols.

No winter would be complete without cross-country skiing. The Nordic event has been held here since the 1970s. Cross-country skiing has grown in popularity in recent years thanks to the successful Swiss athlete Dario Cologna.

Whether it’s skiing, ice-skating or ice-hockey – winter sports play an important role in this Alpine resort. There are plenty of options for summer activities too: windsurfing on Lake Davos, mountain biking, golf or tennis – Davos offers a vast range of sports facilities.

Whether your conference is taking place in summer or winter, you can be sure of getting enough exercise after a hard day’s work. We would be delighted to put together a fringe programme that will get you and your participants moving!
